Eat Your Greens

You've never seen fangs like the violet man with a crooked smile.

Quantify

I probably don't need to remind you that your life can change in the blink of an eye. What is that? A tenth of a second, and everything you know does a complete one-eighty. How many people would you say are alive at this moment? I'm going to go with a rediculous number, say, thirty billion.

So if one life changes in the blink of an eye, does that mean that it only takes just over ninety-five years for the entire world to change? That's funny - that number is roughly one lifetime.

Hybrid Rainbows

A deserted island which seems to have mostly sunk * not found on any globe, not even named * yesterday the ship we hoped for came close but * it didn't even come to meet us

We got a little scorched staring longingly into the sun * holding a prism up, I waved my hand but

Our mostly deflated zeppelin is * skimming just barely over the ground

The look of the colors which defy description * will probably be mercilessly pecked at by the birds

Can you feel? * can you feel that hybrid rainbow? * surely not yet * the limit can't be like this at all * not like this at all

I wanna believe that here is only partway through * I can feel that hybrid rainbow * even we, who weren't chosen up till yesterday * are holding onto tomorrow

Fried Shrimp

My first assignment
was this thing about drawing a house
just with text
I said, "Hey that's really dumb"
and still got a high mark

My next assignment
had something to do with ones and zeroes
I think
so I rented a deep frier
and set it up in the lab

I'm a programmer
and I get all the girls
I bring them take-out dinner
and give them all the world
if they're cute, I'll keep them
and if they're not, I keep them too
beggers can't be choosers

I know this Irishman who talks REALLY funny
and he will take us to this bar
where they serve hamburgers
in brown paper bags
and that don't taste too bad
I'm telling you

Try / Catch

I dreamt that I was playing "Catch" again (with people from school this time). It's a game my friends and I would play in a park when we were kids. It came out of this one time one of my friends took my hat, and hid in the forest surrounding the park, managing to avoid me for an hour.

The current rules of the game are a little more elaborate - you must avoid being caught; but now you can do anything or go anywhere. There should be a time limit for the 'avoider', or possibly some location they need to get to safely, so that the game does not go on indefinitely. Every game needs some kind of goal for both teams. I wonder if I should start playing again for real.

In my dreams I play well. I'm always the one not to get caught. Some times I play with my peers, some times my dreams involve avoiding my parents. I usually wake up rather than get caught.

There are few things as exhilarating than being chased.

Saikyo Groove

Few people know that the Saikyo Groove fighting style was truthfully created by a man called Hiroshi Powers. Dan Hibiki and Hiroshi Powers have been rivals since their youth. Both studied under the same master that had first taught Ryu and Ken, but the latter impatient pair became frustrated and left. Forever searching for ways to make himself stronger, Hiroshi culled what he had learned into an even stronger fighting style - Saikyo - the strongest of all fighting styles! Dan stole all of Hiroshi's research on Saikyo Groove after he had passed out during a night of karaoke.

Later Hiroshi became enraged when he heard that Dan was using Saikyo Groove, and even worse, claiming that he had invented it. Hiroshi challenged Dan to a battle to the death, but after three days of endless parrying and dodging the fight was declared a draw by default. However, Hiroshi did slightly one-up Dan in the end - Hiroshi managed to imitate Dan's horrible attempts at the Tatsumakisenpuukyaku, which just looks like Dan is flailing his legs out as he launches himself forward. Hiroshi calls the worthless maneuver the Dan-ku-kyaku ("the Dan Kick"). The two are currently in the midst of a civil case.

Hiroshi is a chronic panty-stealer and nymphomaniac. He prefers to wear blue business suits, but he does sometimes don a turqoise karate gi (especially when he fights Dan). He comes from a rich family, but he can be found typically in a seedy bar lamenting "the theft of his Saikyo Groove". He sobers at the opportunity to prove himself in combat, or erupts into a fit of rage upon hearing the name "Dan Hibiki".

NOTE: Since Dan's face looks so similar to Robert's, it's only fair that Hiroshi's is the same as Ryo's.

Venus

The snow has stopped falling this afternoon and the forest path is still. The only noise is the cracking of the swaying black trees. A purple hummingbird lies frozen on the ground in the shadow cast by the sun.

Einander

Two million stars * forever moving apart * you brought me up * I drove you down * their eyes opened up * and for a short moment we were close * we saw only ourselves

The summer disappeared * just as quickly as you came * I long to embrace you * you only laughed * that summer was millions of years ago * it's cold without you

Two million stars * forever moving apart * far from each other * far from the Earth * but still in the same sky * everyone lives in the same universe

Now There's Nothing You Can Do

In a black and white photo of an abandoned barn next to a dead tree, something you sent to me back in your artistic days, I can see strands of your hair lying across the lense of the camera. We all want to think that we could create something beautiful if we tried. Charity at Christmas comes from the same reason, too - redemption. Maybe, just maybe, we are capable of making up for all the other days we were ashamed. Just one day.

As Nick Cave Sat Sadly By Her Side

As I sat sadly by her side
At the window, through the glass
She stroked a kitten in her lap
And we watched the world as it fell past
Softly she spoke these words to me
And with brand new eyes, open wide
We pressed our faces to the glass
As I sat sadly by her side

She said, "Father, mother, sister, brother,
Earth and moon and sun and stars
Planets and comets with tails blazing
All are there forever falling
Falling lovely and amazing"

Then she smiled and turned to me
And waited for me to reply
Her hair was falling down her shoulders
As I sat sadly by her side

As I sat sadly by her side
The kitten she did gently pass
Over to me and again we pressed
Our different faces to the glass
"That may be very well", I said
"But watch the one falling in the street
See him gesture to his neighbours
See him trampled beneath their feet
All outward motion connects to nothing
For each is concerned with their immediate need
Witness the man reaching up from the gutter
See the other one stumbling on who can not see"

With trembling hand I turned toward her
And pushed the hair out of her eyes
The kitten jumped back to her lap
As I sat sadly by her side

Then she drew the curtains down
And said, "When will you ever learn
That what happens there beyond the glass
Is simply none of your concern?
God has given you but one heart
You are not a home for the hearts of your brothers

And God does not care for your benevolence
Anymore than he cares for the lack of it in others
Nor does he care for you to sit
At windows in judgement of the world He created
While sorrows pile up around you
Ugly, useless and over-inflated"

At which she turned her head away
Great tears leaping from her eyes
I could not wipe the smile from my face
As I sat sadly by her side
